Edwin van der Sar was given a hero’s welcome on Tuesday when he met fans in Kuala Lumpur as part of United’s Asia Trophy Tour.

Thousands came to a park in the Malaysian capital in the evening to see the Reds’ recently retired goalkeeper and have their photos taken with the Barclays Premier League trophy.

Edwin had earlier taken part in meet-and-greet sessions at closed sponsor events in the city for TM and Hublot.

Van der Sar and the trophy moved on to Singapore on Wednesday, and the Trophy Tour comes to a close on Thursday
