Manchester United are on the verge of signing Udinese 'Wonder Boy' Alexis Sanchez, according to the player's agent.

The 21-year-old Chile international can play either as a striker or on the flank and has been monitored by Sir Alex Ferguson for the past two years. 'El Nino Maravilla' – as he is known in his homeland – starred for his country at the recent World Cup where Chile proved to be one of the more exciting teams playing a brand of flowing attacking football under Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Rumours about United's interest in Sanchez have grown steadily since then and now it looks like the Premier League giants could finally be getting their man though they will have to wait until the end of the season to seal the transfer of the Serie A player.

“I don’t think he will move in the January transfer window, but maybe in the summer,” said agent Fernando Felicevich, talking to Sport.co.uk. “We will see."

“Yes Manchester United are watching him, and it could be a possibility in the future. I have heard that another Premier League club also enquired, but they didn’t contact me.”
