Bebe hopes his goal in Tuesday's Carling Cup win over Wolves will lead to more chances in Manchester United's first team.

The Portuguese youngster was the most surprise of summer signings, with Sir Alex Ferguson sanctioning a £7.4million deal despite admitting he had never seen him play.

But Bebe impressed many observers with his performance at Old Trafford this week.

And he said: 'I’m very happy with my first goal, but I want more.

I played very well and hope to continue this way. From now on Ferguson will have to count more on me.'

Having recently made his debut for the Portugal Under-21 team, Bebe hopes that his impact at United will help propel him into the full national team.

He said: 'Of course, it’s definitely my dream. The national team is where everyone wants to get to.'
