Sir Alex Ferguson would be happy to place his faith in Manchester United's back-up wide-men for Saturday's Premier League encounter with Wolves.As Nani and Darren Fletcher joined a growing injury list during Tuesday night's 3-0 win over Bursaspor, Gabriel Obertan and Bebe both scored timely goals. Obertan was scoring his first United goal in only his second start of the campaign, whilst Bebe followed up his effort against Wolves in the Carling Cup last week by tucking home Paul Scholes' pass."Gabriel has been derailed quite a bit by injury," Ferguson said. "It has been a problem for the lad. He had two or three last season and then picked up another in Texas this pre-season that kept him out for five or six weeks. But he is back now and as he showed here, he has fantastic talent."As for Bebe, signed from Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer even though he had never played a competitive game for the club and Ferguson had not seen him in action, the Scot is convinced there is untapped potential to be fulfilled."He is a good, young player who still has a lot to learn," he said. "He still needs a lot of coaching but the raw talent is there. He is brave and quick, and for such a young player he is a good decision maker. The chances of him being able to realise his potential are very good."As Fletcher had already put United in front early in the second half, those late efforts sealed an impressive win that leaves the Red Devils requiring a single point from their trip to Rangers in a fortnight to secure a place in the last 16."You need experience away from home in Europe," outlined Ferguson. "That is why I went with the composure of Paul Scholes, who is one of the best players in Europe. We also had the experience of Dimitar Berbatov, which helped quieten the crowd."The injuries for Nani and Fletcher did take some of the gloss off victory celebrations, although the real problem will come if the pair are not fit in time to face Manchester City at Eastlands next Wednesday."It is disappointing but these things happen in football," said Ferguson."We may have Darron Gibson back after a bout of flu but Anderson has had a virus as well and I don't think he will be ready."

Norwegian club FC Molde hope to persuade Manchester United reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to become manager next summer.

Molde - the club where the former United striker began his career - are preparing to say goodbye to temporary coach Uwe Rosler after the former Manchester City striker saved them from relegation.

Solskjaer has already turned Molde down once, indicating that he wished to see this season out at Old Trafford before considering a move.

Now Molde hope to lure the hero of United’s 1999 Champions League win back home next summer, halfway through the next Norwegian season that begins in March.

You might expect Theo Walcott to delight in the prospect of Manchester United losing their best player - but the Arsenal winger insists he's thrilled Wayne Rooney is staying at Old Trafford. And the winger says his England team-mate is worth every penny of his new £200,000-a-week deal, despite a shocking performance at the World Cup in the summer. Like most football fans, Walcott was gripped by revelations that Rooney was threatening to quit United last month and the prospect of losing the Old Trafford idol to a foreign land was a worrying prospect.

'I just wanted to know what was going on when I heard about it,' Walcott told The Sun. 'As an England player, I didn't want to see one of our best players going abroad, so I'm glad it's sorted.'Every time you think of Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson, you just think of them as Man Utd. It's great news for the club that they have got their man.'For me, he's one of the best players I've played with, alongside David Beckham.' 

Rooney questioned United's ambition and appeared to have no future before a dramatic U-turn led him to sign a five-year contract that doubled his money.

Despite a dramatic dip in form since injuring his ankle against Bayern Munich in March, Walcott isn't about to question the striker's pay packet. 

The 21-year-old Gunner said: 'He's worked hard since he was a really young age and he's Man Utd's best player, so why not pay him big money? 

'To stay in England, with one of the best managers in the Premier League, he's only going to get better and better. 

'I'm sure he'll be back playing at the best of his abilities in no time.'

Aku pun rasa Rooney memang deserved to be paid like that BUT cara dia utk mendapatkan kontrak tu jer yang aku tak berkenan sikit!! Dia memang bagus and apa yg dia dah buat utk MU especially last season bila dia pikul seorang diri tanggungjawab di bahagian serangan bila Berbatop and striker2 lain tak menyerlah!! For now Rooney..after you recover from your injury,please perform like u always did before and show us why you are worth 200k pound a week player!! GGMU...

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has launched a stinging attack on referee Mark Clattenburg and Manchechester United winger Nani for their respective parts in the bizarre goal that went against Spurs.While the shot-stopper himself has taken some criticism for putting the ball down, he views the incident in a different light.The former PSV Eindhoven man insists that the man in charge failed to clearly indicate his decision, while taking a pop at Nani's handling offence saying "this is not basketball"."In my opinion, the whole stadium saw what happened," Gomes told The Sun."It is impossible the ref did not see the handball.
"He did not gesture in any way to play on, like you would normally expect. When I put the ball down on the floor, he started gesturing with his shoulders."He is supposed to use his hands. It was not clear to anyone. It was only when I saw [Paul] Scholes shouting at Nani to shoot that I reacted."The biggest mistake was not being clear afterwards. Maybe he did not have to give the foul but you have to be clear. He only gestured after I put the ball down."Nani stopped the game with his hands but this is not basketball."Gomes has also stuck to his guns, insisting that he would do the same thing again if something on similar lines takes place in the future.
Furthermore, the 29-year-old feels that the linesman remained confused when the incident took place at Old Trafford.He added: "I feel bad, as I let in a goal. But I would react the same again."The ref was not clear. He gesticulated with his shoulders and barely moved his arms. He was not able to explain and show to anyone in the stadium what was going on."Even the linesman was confused. He told me he did not know what the ref gave."He said he saw the handball and told me to go back to the goal, that he would tell the ref what he saw."
